Doing Tarot Readings for Yourself

This can be a bit of a controversial subject, with people having their own opinions on both sides. Can you really do accurate Tarot readings for yourself? Well, everyone is different and that includes their own personal reading abilities, so who can say? But I will share my own thoughts on this, in case you wanted to know what I think.

I think that trying to be truly honest with yourself and totally unbiased is nearly impossible, especially when doing readings about emotionally charged situations. Whether you like it or not, your subconscious plays a huge role in everything you do.

Questions about relationships (especially current ones, rather than hypothetical future ones) are probably the worst. You are going to see what you want to see, and interpret the cards to suit your own interests. I don't mean overtly fooling yourself, like thinking the 9 of swords means a glorious upcoming promotion. But even just seeing things differently in the subtle details can change a reading from accurate to wishful thinking.

That said, I think it matters what you are reading about and how you go about it. Doing a long in-depth reading will more likely be biased than a quick one. Asking a question and drawing a couple of cards will give you a less detailed response but a more accurate one. The less you think about it, the less chance you are going to have to change your perceptions.
