The Moon
Traditional Image: A night scene with a moon in the sky. There is a tower on either side, with a path running between them towards a pond. A crayfish sits by the water, and two dogs or wolves howl up at the moon.
Symbolism: The moon itself illustrates the mysterious knowledge in dreams, and the psyche. The path is leading the way to the water, or your emotional subconscious. A crayfish emerges from the water, showing how your inner thoughts are coming to life. The howling dogs mean submission to the moon's power. The two towers represent the beginning and the end (like the similar High Priestess card).
Overall Meaning: A card of hidden knowledge and emotional upheaval. Mysteries, dreams, psychic abilities, emotions and unknown things are all wrapped up in the Moon card. You may have to face your deepest fears, or acknowledge your deepest desires. Secrets are going to be revealed, and they may not be things you want to know about.
