Molasses Sugar Cookies
The tangy flavour of molasses, cloves and ginger make these perfect autumn cookies for Samhain.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 tbs sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 tbs vegetable oil
- 2 egg whites
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350F. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, spices, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the molasses, oil, egg whites and 3/4 cup of sugar. Add to flour mixture and stir.
Roll dough into small balls (about 1" across). Roll dough balls in the remaining sugar to coat. Place 2" apart on a greased cookie sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Cookie tops will be cracked and firm to the touch when ready.
