Another wonderful book on one of my favorite topics. The Shamanic Witch isn't so much about the spiritual path of Shamanism, but rather on the specific practice of inner journeying with a Shamanic perspective.

There are many Native American aspects to the topic, such as power animals, drumming and using rattles in ritual but you don't need to be following a Native American path to get a lot out of this book. In fact, the whole slant of the book is how to add shamanic practice to a Wiccan path which may suit readers who are looking to broaden their horizons.

As with most books on this subject, there are a number of exercises to help you work on your skills. She has included a number of specific guided meditations for you to try, as well as plenty of ideas for journey goals. The author uses personal experiences and examples to further illustrate the concepts, which is helpful.

Her explanations of the Upper, Middle and Lower worlds was very interested as she talked about different astral destinations for different types of goals. There is also quite a bit about totems, guides and power animals.

This would be a fine book for beginners, especially anyone who has an affinity to the natural world. The book is quite nature and animal oriented, as you would expect from a book on Shamanism. I enjoyed the book very much and it offers a solid as well as practical base for exploring other worlds.
