Pagan Daily Devotionals

If you are not already familiar with this from my earlier website, the Pagan Daily Devotionals are a thought for the day. It's not supposed to be instructional necessarily, but something just for fun. Some days are jokes, puzzles, quotes, various spiritual thoughts and things you might be interested to know. Sometimes it's just an idea, and sometimes I suggest a way to use that idea during your day. It's really a mix of lots of Pagan stuff.

Gerald Gardner

Gerald GardnerGerald Brosseau Gardner was born in 1884, in Blundellands, England. He was the son of a local justice of the peace, and had three brothers. His family was no stranger to witchcraft. One of his ancestors was burned as a witch in 1610, and even Gardner's own grandfather married a women who was rumored to be a witch.

Harm None

Before I begin, I want to emphasize that not all Pagans are Wiccan, and therefore not all Pagans follow Wiccan teachings (which include the Rede). To further muddy the waters, not all Wiccans view the Rede in the same way or follow it to the same extent.

First of all, what is the Rede? The Wiccan Rede is actually a longer piece of poetry, but it is often condensed down to the last line: "An it harm none, do what you will." That is also often shrunk further to simply "Harm None". It's a simple idea, but one that can have deeply reaching consequences, depending on your interpretation. Read more

Choosing a Magickal Name

I finally decided to find my magickal name. It’s common for pagans to take a second name, especially those who work in a coven or any kind of magickal group. I am just a solitary, but since I owned a shop and have a bit of an Internet presence, I felt a need to identify myself.

My first exploration into having an ‘alternate identity’ began more than a decade ago. I was into the BBS scene and liked to chat (Bulletin Board Systems were sort of a pre-internet). My very first online name was Nightmare. No particular reason why, but it stuck and it felt comfortable. Read more

Thor

Thor is a well-known figure in Norse mythology, as the red-haired God of Thunder. He was son to Odin, but was not as unstable as his father. The five-pointed star within a circle is the most common Pagan symbol, and it is typically used to identify oneself as a Pagan or Wiccan.
